“You host, we fund” Global North.

On World Refugee Day 2022, Turkana County Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai Napotikan praised the UNHCR and its partners for making progress towards the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework (CRRF) piloted in Kenya and 14 other refugee-hosting countries. The Governor highlighted the Kalobeyei Integrated Social Economic Development Plan (KISEDP) as an example of this progress, which seeks to create a self-reliant society in refugee and host communities. KISEDP is a multi-year program divided into four implementation phases and organized into eight complementary programmatic components, such as measures to strengthen health care, education, water supplies etc. The Governor commended the UNHCR and partners for their shift from “humanitarian assistance to development interventions” and their commitment to involving the refugee population in all CRRF planning processes. He urged them to continue this progress to create a better future for refugees and host communities in Turkana West Sub County.
